Doug and Harlan at The Rock (1993)
Doug and Harlan rock the stage at The Rock in 1993 while opening for Mary's Danish.

Bands, etc.

I'll be putting up dedicated pages with pictures for my different musical ventures soon. In the meantime, here are a few choice bits.

  • BSB - the Buena Show Band was a high school jazz band with a traditional big band configuration. I started in the band in 1983 (at the age of 14) and played through 1988, the year after I graduated. I recorded albums with the band in 1984 and 1988. We played everything from jazz standards to rock, instrumental and vocal. Various folks in the band included Mike Geddes on bass, Jon Packard on alto sax and bass, Wayne Beaudoin on drums, my brother Wayne on trumpet, Jeff Warren on keyboards, Tom Kennedy on tenor sax, and many other dedicated and talented musicians.
  • Silent Nite - The culmination of several lineups of metal bands over 4 years of high school. Everything came together when we finally convinced Greg he should sing. The main lineup was me, Jon Packard, Wayne Beaudoin, and Greg Sword. I wrote my first original songs in this band.
  • Dover Trench - Trench was, in my opinion, the priemere speed metal band in Arizona. My stay in the band was brief but satisfying and educational. I played on the first three songs the band recorded, which were eventually combined with additional sessions for their debut release "Fast...Hard...Loud," which was released in 1989. I played in the lineup that included Blain Askew, Eli Freeman, Matt Pimple, and Dave Cheney.
  • One Word - The most accomplished version of several of my attempts at performing instrumental and jazz music. We recorded 4 tunes in 1989/1990 that I hope to get up online in MP3 format soon, as well as a pretty cool live show. The lineup was myself on guitar, Mike Geddes on bass, Tim Lindholm on drums, and Jeff Warren on keyboards and vocals (for live stuff). Jeff Coburn played drums on one of the recorded tunes. Jon Packard played bass on some of the early live shows and some of the jam sessions that led to the formation of the band--before he headed off to join the Army band.
  • The 4 Pigs - Way too much to say about this band...so much so that it'll have its own site soon--I took the old one down. The band included; me on guitar, Greg Sword on Vocals, Chris Tumpkin on guitar, Mike Geddes on bass, Wayne Beaudoin on drums, Harlan Bradford on vocals, Matt Pimple on drums, and Tom Kennedy on tenor sax. This band lasted from 1989 through 1993, and occasional jams after. We recorded two albums, won a battle of the bands, and opened for several national acts, including opening for Rage Against the Machine on their first national tour.
  • Funky Bonz - I played in the band from 1996 through 2001. It was fun and a change of pace for me, leaning more on blues, reggae and open jamming. My favorite lineup of the band included me on guitar, Brent Kort on vocals, Jim Pavett on drums, Tom Kennedy on tenor sax, and TJ Ferrugia on bass. I also played in the band with several talented folks: Alan Anderson on drums, James Couzens on drums, Brandon Gonzales on bass, Sean Meyercek on bass and Demetri Enriquez on bass. Many of the Funky Bonz tunes are here online so head to the Music page.
  • Ozlo - Ozlo is an extremely talented vocalist and songwriter. Joining me in the band was Jim Pavett on drums and Demetri Enriquez on bass. We're also joined on occasion by Ryan Janec (from Sunday Afternoon) on drums, Mighty Mik Garrison on bass, Marshall Jones on guitar, Richard Katz on keyboard, and Rob Paulus on bass. More on this project can be found at Ozloland.
  • Amber Norgaard - Amber is an awesome songwriter/vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist from Iowa, by way of Alaska...now making her home here in Tucson. I've played on her first two albums, "Soul in Motion" and "Rising." Joining me in the band is Jim Pavett on drums and Jay Trapp on bass. More on the project can be found on Amber's site or on MySpace.
